It's hard to know what to wear, so it's best to carry around my suitcase in the car. Mornings are chilly- pants and a jacket, when the sun is out, its mid 20's with a breeze it's perfect. yesterday started off overcast so neither of us wore our hats, and by afternoon we were both pink in the face. SO today we are ready with our sunscreen. When the sun goes down, it is Cold! socks, shoes, pants, and lots of layers on top.
We drove our little rental to Santa Monica Pier and walked around for a couple hours! It was so so exciting! There were buskers singing and playng music along the pier, there were all kinds of kinds taking pictures, the beach is by far the widest; longest beach I have ever seen!! SOO WIDE!? nice soft, clean sand that stretched forever. There are walking paths then there are biking paths! it's pretty funny to watch particulars who can't seem to understand the rules walk in the middle of the bike lanes.
There are rides on the prier, and restaurants and skateboarders and people strolling along.
My excitement level was thru the roof. Jordan and Harley, I am so so excited to rent bikes and just as excited for the rides ... like wow, counting down the days until we can all ride together.
anyways, we continued walking to find muscle beach ...
Backing the beach were hotels, palm trees and homes! people live here on the beach!
It was mighty hard to leave the beach, but onward and upward..
amazing Pacific Coast highway kept us in awe. Fast pace traffic, but beautiful views of ocean, greenery and homes! my gosh, these mansions in the hills are incredible. What do these people do?!
Malibu! A must stop!
We pulled into a nice looking restaurant overlooking the water. And the $4 US Vallet parking turned us off right away. The valet guy was (once again, super friendly).. he allowed us to check out the menu before paying him. pretty sure he knew we weren't the type to eat at this restaurant. The menu looked good but pricey and there were some hoity toity looking peeps. we just didn't fit in. so we continued on the busy highway. Not going to lie, it was really stressful to try to pull off the highway onto the side to park. but Ashton safely maneuvered us to a spot where we found the perfect place to eat. Fish tacos and chicken fingers it is! in n outdoor patio place. yum
Literally American Flag everywhere! Them Americans are proud! Us Canadians should wave our flag more often!
We walked off our big lunch by a quick walk by the water and found these friends...
We have to keep up to traffic so no time to get a snap of the homes in the hills... but this might be a workplace?.. and lots of greenery!
In attempts to drive up the hill to creep on a fancy home we found ourselves inland where mountains surrounded us.?..
o okay we made it! to a viewpoint. Imagine this as your view from your living room...
Back on the highway
Around Malibu we wanted to check out a couple beaches, maybe sight a celebrity, but to access these beaches you had to literally drive a secluded road off the highway then you had to pay to park.. $12 US for the day .. or $6 an hour...
so we kept driving and would pull over to find gems like this one.
look really hard at this picture. do you see what is in it??... it's camouflaged in,,
lots of produce and beautiful flowers are grown here..
We found our motel at Carpinteria . A nice place. Clean, scenic. Good. It is along the highway which is a constant noise and actually doesn't bother us, however it was literally full of traffic ALL night and we can literally feel the big semi and loud sport cars.
We capped off the day by strolling around Capinteria, which is our kinda place.. a quaint town -population 13,000 and just so darn cute with a beautiful beach and low key friendly families
Unfortunately, the wind was really strong and the sand was blowing so we didn't actually walk on the beach, just took a couple snaps , waltzed around and grabbed some mexican eats. there is lots of spanish here
a seal!! just chillin watching the sunset.
Wish you could all be here with us.
Much love on this Good Friday.
