Its sure nice to blog again! This time we are road tripping around central California, then meeting Jordan and Harley to head to Indio to attend Stage Coach- country music festival!! At stage coach we'll party with cousins Joel and Ariel!
Our travel day was smooth. Bright and early we met our new friend Alisha in the Saskatoon Airport. Alisha was a bundle of energy as she was excited about her trip. We celebrated our vacations over starbucks while waiting for our flight. Turns out Alisha was on the same flight to Edmonton.
The 3 of us were the last to board the plane and we literally were in the front of the plane in the PLUS seats. .. pretty ironic as the youngest and skinniest people were in these seats. We each sat by 15 yr old soccer players. To top off our wonderful seats, the stewardess was friendly and offered free wine! (Thank you WestJet propeller flights!)
Earlier in the morning I noticed our mayor Charlie Clark in the security line with his family.
On the plane I was drinkin my wine, chatting with our newest friend- 35 year old ranch boy who is "big valleys most eldiglbe bachelor'...reading the star phoenix when I noticed Charlie in the paper. He had just given a speech about optimism for our city.
Naturally I saved the article for Charlie to sign. Alisha works with CBC and had met Charlie Clark previously so she was our 'in'. She introduced us and we chit chatted and he signed my newspaper! (He wrote:...'Chelsey, Saskatoon is a hard place not to believe in')
That's about all the flight excitement. the rest of the flights were fine, and the airports were like any big airport- full of all kinds of people.
we landed around 6:30pm. LLAAAAXXX
Ashton had researched how to get from the airport to our motel in Santa Monica.
With the help of very friendly locals, we took a shuttle and local bus to our area. From there we walked a short distance to our motel. Along the way I was commenting on how dark and how many shadows were on the streets, a few seconds later I looked into a shadow to see a black man sitting on a red blanket. I nearly jumped a foot- he chuckled :).
by 8 we were checked in and went over to the nearby market for a snack.
We were pretty tired from 3 flights, all of which were uncomfortably warm. - I was in my tank top! (now that's saying something)...
anyhoodles, here we are, the next morning, up with the sun rise and eager for the day! Already some morning excitement, as I turned on the water to have a shower and out from the drain washed a big black beetle! AHH
were going to rent our car today and HIT THE ROAD!! California here we come!
